Who is Rural Action Yorkshire?

Rural Action Yorkshire's Mission
Working in the three sub-regions of North, West and South Yorkshire to enable communities to improve the quality of life for all people living and working in rural Yorkshire.
How do we do it?
Rural Action Yorkshire has a dedicated team of staff which is able to advice and support on a number of issues and we work closely in partnership with other voluntary and statutory organisations.
Access to Services officers are available to offer advice and practical help to rural communities and to help ensure access to those services which are essential to social inclusion.
Our aims are to ensure that rural communities
- Raise the quality, provision and access of local services in rural areas
- Improve accessibility to community facilities (shops, healthcare, leisure).
- Increase education, training and employment opportunities for socially excluded people.
We also aim to identify sustainable support for further community development in the future.
We can help communities and community groups in a variety of different ways:
- Supporting and training management committees in business planning, project planning, research, community consultation, negotiation skills.
- Opportunities for ICT-based provision.
- Advice on funding for community projects, or how to get specialist help such as legal advice.
- Help in identifying barriers to accessing rural services, taking into consideration transport provision, availability of suitable venues, Disability Discrimination Act 1995 access issues amongst others.
